Worker dies after scaffold support ring breaks at Vilnius church

A worker died after a ring on a scaffold support broke during restoration work at a Vilnius church, LRT reported.

The accident happened at about 11:15 a.m. on Monday at the Church of St Constantine and St Michael on J. Basanavičiaus Street. The worker, born in 1988, fell from the scaffolding. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police said on Tuesday that an investigation had been opened into a possible breach of occupational safety and health requirements.
