State forest felling capped at 8,445 hectares in 2027
Regeneration felling in Estonia’s state forests will remain close to this year’s level in 2027, ERR reported, after Energy and Environment Minister Erkki Keldo confirmed a five-year ceiling.
The State Forest Management Centre, known as RMK, may carry out regeneration felling on up to 8,445 hectares next year, a similar area to this year.
Keldo said the forestry sector and rural businesses need predictable harvest volumes. He said the volume would change gradually over the longer term rather than in sharp jumps.
