An international illustration exhibition inspired by a flight over Estonia is on display at the Pärnu Museum of New Art, ERR reports. “Magical Forest” features works by 18 Estonian artists and 31 artists from 15 other countries.

The exhibition has travelled through Poland, Latvia and Lithuania. Curator Viive Noor said she was prompted to choose the theme after seeing from the air that little forest remained in Estonia, with trees mostly reduced to strips along roads.

Artists from other countries also took up the theme, each interpreting it in their own way. Noor said the works show forests ranging from realistic to mysterious.

Kristel Kallau, director of Pärnu Art School, said it was interesting to see how artists from different countries approach the subject, adding that her heart was with the Estonian artists.
