Lithuania will hold a National Security Commission meeting and President Gitanas Nausėda will meet intelligence and military officials after a drone crossed into the country and an attempt was made to set fire to Starlink equipment, LRT reported.

Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said the commission would examine how the drone entered Lithuania and where radar first detected it. Members will also consider giving services additional powers to neutralise drones and discuss how to inform the public.

The meeting will also address an attempted arson attack on premises in Vilnius used by the US company SpaceX. Sinkevičius said nine satellite antennas and a control unit on the company’s premises were targeted. A pre-trial investigation has been opened.

The Presidential Office said Nausėda would discuss airspace defence and responses to hybrid threats with representatives of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and intelligence services, including the military’s chief of Defence Staff.

The drone entered Lithuania from Poland on Sunday morning. Its parts were later found in Juodžionys village in Pasvalys district. The drone exploded, and debris damaged a civilian car. No one was injured.

Sinkevičius linked the attempted arson to what he described as Russia’s hybrid war against Europe.
