The reconstruction of the cultural centre in Salaspils won the Grand Prix at the 2026 Latvian Architecture Awards, LSM reported. The winners were announced at a ceremony at Riga Congress House, which is set to become the Riga Philharmonic.
The project was designed by Levins Arhitekti, led by Edijs Levins and Agnese Levina, in collaboration with architect Iveta Lūse. The international jury praised the careful attention given throughout the project, saying the building was designed to bring people together and make culture part of everyday life.
The jury also highlighted the project’s efficient use of resources, exposed structural elements and natural materials, describing the result as a balanced building with a new approach to cultural activities.
Three Latvian Architecture Silver Awards went to Konrāda Quarter in Cēsis, designed by Outofbox and Konvents; the Zuzeum art museum, designed by Make Make and Balta istaba; and the reconstruction of a parsonage and construction of a barn in Kuldīga, by Diānas Zalānes Projektu Birojs and Field Studio.
Gatis Didrihsons received the newly introduced Architect of the Year recognition for his contribution to the development of the profession. An international jury selected the top awards from 16 finalists.
