Lithuania’s Cabinet has backed a proposal to change the boundaries of Telšiai and the nearby village of Kalnėnai, LRT reported. The change would bring a 2.57-hectare plot in Kalnėnai within the city limits.
The proposal followed a request from the company Žemaitijos pienas, which owns three plots in the area: two in Telšiai and one in Kalnėnai. Current legislation does not allow the plots to be combined into a single parcel, according to the draft government resolution.
The Interior Ministry said consolidating the land into one area was necessary for the company’s planned investments.
After Telšiai district municipality approved the proposal, information about the planned boundary change was posted on noticeboards in Gadūnavas and Telšiai city local administrative offices. Residents could submit objections, proposals or comments in May and June, but none were received.
