Latvian and European defence and healthcare leaders, pharmaceutical representatives and scientists met in Rēzekne this week to discuss how prepared frontline services are for crises under current geopolitical conditions, LSM reported.
In Latgale, a drone flight in the airspace and an August storm exposed both institutions’ preparedness and the problems they face. The storm left people without electricity or communications for more than three days.
Are institutions better prepared now, and what practical steps are still needed? The discussion on the programme “Latgale Hour” featured Inta Vaivode, board chair of Daugavpils Regional Hospital; Ainis Dzalbs, president of the Latvian Rural Family Doctors Association; and Zane Melberga, president of the Latvian Pharmacists’ Society.
