A convoy carrying one of the largest aid shipments organised by the Uzņēmēji mieram foundation has left Riga for Ukraine, LSM reported. Latvian companies contributed the supplies, which include vehicles and support for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
The convoy, named the Victory Convoy, set off early on Friday, October 16, with several dozen vehicles. The shipment includes 35 four-wheel-drive vehicles donated by Latvenergo, assistance for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure arranged by Augstsprieguma tīkls, and tractor equipment donated by Sadales tīkls, as well as other supplies.
Volunteers making the journey include both first-time drivers and people who have delivered aid to Ukraine several times. Volunteer Arnis said seeing the determination and fighting spirit of Ukrainian soldiers motivates him to make the trip again.
Andris Siksnis said the journey was difficult but rewarding, especially when meeting the people receiving the vehicles. He said those encounters showed him the vehicles were in the right hands.
The foundation said the shipment is among the largest and most substantial in its history. The support is considered especially important as winter approaches.
