Silvia Sool began work on Monday, October 12, as the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) news desk’s correspondent in Pärnu and Pärnu County, ERR reported. She will also cover stories from Lääne County.
Sool will report for ERR’s television and radio news. She previously worked as a reporter in the broadcaster’s newsroom from 2012 to 2018.
“I am extremely happy to have a new opportunity to bring Pärnu’s life and stories to television and radio,” Sool said after her first few days. She added that her first week had been busy and had confirmed that she had “a reporter’s soul”. She said she and cameraman Verner Vilgas would try to “keep Pärnu’s flag flying high”.
Sool grew up in Pärnu and lives there. She studied at Pärnu Koidula Gymnasium and the universities of Tartu and Tallinn. Her journalism experience includes work at Maaleht, Geenius Meedia, Radio Pärnu and Kalev Meedia, as well as roles in communications and marketing.
ERR newsroom head Joosep Värk said Sool and Vilgas would help bring important stories from Pärnu and western Estonia to a broad audience. ERR has regional correspondents across the country and is currently recruiting for a correspondent in Virumaa. Applications are open until October 18.
