Latvia’s Central Election Commission (CVK) has declined to consider the only complaint it received about the 15th parliamentary election results because it was filed after the deadline, LSM reported.

The complaint was submitted by Raimonds Lejnieks-Puķe, a candidate for the Harmony Centre political alliance. He challenged vote-counting records from seven polling stations in the Zemgale region.

The commission said it had reviewed the information in the submission and requested additional information from the election commissions named in it. It rejected Lejnieks-Puķe’s request to restore the procedural deadline and left his challenge to the polling-station records unexamined.

The CVK’s decision can be appealed under the procedure set out in law. The election results may also be challenged in court. The commission has compiled provisional results and planned to approve the final results on Friday.
