Eesti 200 should not run in the upcoming parliamentary elections and should instead prepare properly for the 2031 vote, party MP Ando Kiviberg told ERR.
Kiviberg said he had not decided whether to stand in the March elections. If the party chooses to run, he said, he would act as a team member. But he did not consider it sensible to “burn money” on the campaign now.
He said the party should recover, reflect on its performance and make the 2031 elections its goal. Kiviberg has discussed the question with other party members and expects a decision at Sunday’s party council meeting.
Eesti 200 and the Estonian Greens are also discussing a possible merger. Kiviberg said he did not believe a merger was necessarily needed, adding that several party members he had spoken with shared his view.
Kiviberg does not plan to run on another party’s list and said he had received no such offer. He said he remained a member of Eesti 200 because he believed the party’s ideas were necessary and right, and could benefit Estonia. The question, he said, was how well they had been put into practice.
