Paabel closes Sügisjazz with album launch

Estonian folk ensemble Paabel ended this year’s Sügisjazz concert series with a launch performance for its album “Ajatu” on Wednesday, ERR reported.

Returning to the stage after a long creative break, the group presented new music that gives regilaul songs fresh life through rhythms and free improvisation. Released in August, “Ajatu” is Paabel’s fifth full-length album.

Sügisjazz ran from September 13 to October 14, featuring five artists and groups. Alongside Paabel, the programme included T.I.M. (Norway-France), Frederico Heliodoro (Brazil), Rebecca Kontus Trio with “Hymne à l’amour”, and Maarja Nuut, Shards and Nicolas Stocker performing Nuut’s new large-scale work “Liivast juukseid kammides” (Estonia-UK-Switzerland).
