Lithuanian defence technology company Pekkla and Ukrainian company December One RND Ltd have signed a letter of intent to produce and supply electronic warfare equipment and drone components, LRT reported, citing the Ministry of National Defence.
The document was signed on Wednesday during Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas’s visit to Ukraine. It provides for establishing a joint venture in Lithuania, with production due to begin in 2027.
“The aim of this agreement is to establish a joint venture in Lithuania. Production is planned to begin in 2027,” Kaunas said. He added that the goal was for electronic warfare equipment to be purchased mainly from Lithuanian manufacturers, as well as from Ukrainian defence industry production based in Lithuania.
Kaunas said local production of the equipment and drone components would shorten supply chains to Ukraine and strengthen Lithuania’s economy. He said it would also make the country’s defence industry more resilient and self-sufficient.
Pekkla designs and manufactures unmanned aircraft and unmanned ground vehicles. December One RND is a Ukrainian company with specialised technical knowledge and research and experimental development experience.
