Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence is investing more than 33 million euros to expand its network of military fuel stations, LRT reported.
The ministry said the network of fuel stations, vehicle washes and fuel storage facilities is being developed at military units and other strategically important locations. Some stations have been completed this year, and most of those under construction are expected to be finished next year.
Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said the infrastructure would supply both the Lithuanian Armed Forces and NATO allies. The stations are intended to provide reliable fuel reserves and uninterrupted supplies for combat, logistics and administrative vehicles.
The ministry said the new infrastructure includes modern stations with integrated fuel storage, as well as larger storage facilities in strategically selected locations. It is also working with other state institutions to make use of existing fuel storage and related infrastructure.
