Vilnius side Hockey Punks beat Elektrėnai’s Energija 3-2 in the OHL Baltic Championship derby on Saturday, LRT reported. Nearly 1,000 spectators watched the game at Elektrėnai Ice Palace.
Hockey Punks took a 2-0 lead in the first period through Herkus Marcinkevičius in the fifth minute and Otto Karvinen near the end of the period.
Energija captain Tadas Kumeliauskas scored twice in the second period, but goals from Artem Redko and Kumeliauskas left the home side trailing 3-2. Despite a hard-fought final period, including nearly two and a half minutes with an extra skater after pulling their goalkeeper, Energija could not equalise.
Hockey Punks goalkeeper Simas Baltrūnas stopped 35 of 37 shots, a save rate of 94.6%. Energija’s Connor Androlewicz saved 20 of 23 shots.
Hockey Punks are due to play HK Zemgale/LBTU away in Jelgava on October 14. Energija are scheduled to play away against HC Panter in Tallinn on October 24 and 25.
