Man shot dead in Vilnius courtyard; suspect detained
Police have opened a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in a courtyard on Savanorių Avenue in Vilnius on Friday evening, LRT reported.
At about 6.25pm, during a conflict in the courtyard of an apartment building, a man fired a legally held firearm at a 1981-born man. The victim died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police seized the firearm and detained the suspected shooter, who was born in 1973. The investigation is being conducted under a Criminal Code article that provides for a prison sentence of seven to 15 years for murder.
