Lithuanian border guards turned back no irregular migrants at the border with Belarus on Friday, for several days in a row, the State Border Guard Service said, according to LRT.

Latvian border guards, facing a large influx of irregular migrants, refused entry to 22 people on Friday. Polish officials reported no such attempts on Thursday.

Lithuanian officials prevented more than 1,650 people from entering the country from Belarus at unauthorised crossing points last year and 1,693 so far this year, the service said. Since the start of the migration crisis linked to Belarus, about 26,300 people have been refused entry to Lithuania.

Migrants began arriving in eastern European Union countries in 2021. Western countries blamed the Belarusian regime for the influx.
