US President Donald Trump said Russia had agreed to immediately release 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel to the US and global markets, ERR reported Friday.

Trump said on social media that he had held what he described as particularly successful talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said a further three million tonnes of Russian diesel would follow soon, depending on refinery operations, with another 500,000 tonnes in November and one million tonnes after that.

Trump said the deliveries should lower fuel prices on global markets. The US issued a temporary licence for Russian diesel supplies to global markets, valid until April 7 next year.

Kirill Dmitriev, Putin’s special envoy, praised cooperation between the US and Russia in a post, saying their work on diesel and energy would benefit the whole world.
