Police seize about 7kg of suspected cannabis in Šilalė and Šilutė

Police seized about 7 kilograms of suspected cannabis in Šilalė and Šilutė on Thursday evening, LRT reported. About 2 kilograms were found in a car and another 5 kilograms in an apartment.

Police stopped a Volkswagen Passat on Rytinio Kelio Street in Šilalė at about 7:25 p.m. The car was driven by a man born in 2003, with a man born in 1998 as a passenger. Officers found and seized about 2 kilograms of plant material suspected to be cannabis. Police suspect the two men may have obtained it from a man born in 1994.

At about 10:30 p.m., officers found and seized a further 5 kilograms of suspected cannabis during a search of an apartment in Šilutė.

All three men were detained at the Klaipėda County Chief Police Commissariat. A pre-trial investigation has been opened into unlawful possession of narcotic substances without intent to distribute and unlawful possession of a large quantity of narcotic substances.
