More than 10,700 people took part in Estonia’s nationwide e-math test, with 375 solving all the problems correctly, ERR reported. The oldest participant was 87.

The test was held for the third time. It comprised 12 questions, arranged from easier to harder and spanning material from the first to the final year of school.

At Võru Gymnasium, the event was opened by school alumnus Tiit Land, now rector of Tallinn University of Technology. He also took the test, saying he had done well but ran out of time before reaching the final-year question.

Gymnasium director Karl Kirt finished first but was not satisfied with his result. He said he had got stuck on a second-grade question and found some of the high-school questions difficult, adding that he had not done mathematics at that level for a long time.

Karola, a 12th-grade student, said the mathematics was easy, though she sometimes heard others complain that formulas were not provided. She said the test gave people a chance to review earlier topics and keep up with mathematics. Student Oliver Keel scored 10 out of 12 and said he was pleased with his result.
