Kaunas plans two municipal offices for 37 million euros

Kaunas municipality plans to build two administrative buildings at a preliminary combined cost of about 37 million euros, LRT reported Thursday, citing the news portal 15min.
The building planned at 8A L. Sapiegos Street will cover 4,381 square metres and provide 200 workplaces. The project is estimated to cost about 10 million euros, with construction scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028.
A second building, planned at 1F Jonavos Street, will cover 11,176.62 square metres and include about 100 workplaces and 216 parking spaces. Its estimated cost is about 27 million euros, and construction is expected to start in spring 2027.
Gedeminas Barčauskas, deputy director of the Kaunas municipal administration and the city’s chief architect, told 15min the buildings are intended to bring together municipal departments now working at different locations. The municipality currently has 656 employees working at more than 20 addresses.
The Jonavos Street building is also planned to include multipurpose spaces for events and official meetings.
