Experts will discuss how workers can keep their skills relevant as technology, industries and labour-market demands change, LSM reports. The discussion is being held as part of Career Week 2026.
The panel will consider labour-market trends, employers’ experience, adults’ motivation to learn and practical opportunities to upgrade skills or retrain. It will also look at how technology, digitalisation and the shift to renewable energy are changing jobs and skills in the energy sector.
Forecasts by the Ministry of Economics indicate that by 2030 the energy sector could be short of 2,549 specialists with vocational or professional secondary education, and a further 806 with higher education.
Participants will include Elīna Purmale-Baumane, director of the Adult Education Department at the State Education Development Agency; career consultant Iļja Dobahovs; labour-market expert Vladislava Marāne; Reinis Kasparsons, a board member of Rīgas siltums; and Sabīna Alta, development director at Laflora. TV3 moderator Mārtiņš Spuris will lead the discussion.
