Riga City Court has sentenced pro-Kremlin activist Polina Kamļova, from Rēzekne, to six years in prison for helping fund equipment intended for Russian military personnel, LSM reported. The court said the payment was about 42 euros.
Kamļova was also ordered to undergo probation supervision for three years. Time she has spent detained and in custody will count towards her sentence, leaving five years, one month and 25 days to serve. Her detention will remain in force until the judgment takes effect. She can appeal to Riga Regional Court.
In December 2024, Kamļova agreed in a WhatsApp conversation to help raise money for the Russian army to buy equipment for use in the war against Ukraine. Her contact was an acquaintance in Russia who served as a contact for Kaskad, a Russian military-patriotic special training centre.
The contact asked her to help collect funds to buy radio-electronic equipment for the Russian military, described as an “Electronic warfare dome cover FPV-4 drone jammer.” Because a transfer from Latvia to a Russian credit institution was not possible, Kamļova asked an acquaintance in Belarus to make a payment on her behalf without disclosing its true purpose.
At her request, the acquaintance paid about 157 Belarusian rubles, or roughly 42 euros, from a private bank account at a Belarusian credit institution. Latvian law provides for a prison term of up to 10 years and probation supervision of up to three years for financing an armed conflict.
The State Security Service investigated the case before referring it to prosecutors. It detained Kamļova on December 2, 2025, and conducted procedural actions at two locations associated with her in Rēzekne and Preiļi Municipality.
