Lithuanian conservative MP Agnė Bilotaitė is giving up her parliamentary mandate to make more time for herself and her family, LRT reported.
Bilotaitė wrote to the Central Electoral Commission on Monday asking it to end her mandate, her party announced on Wednesday. She said the decision had been developing for some time and could no longer be postponed.
She said she was stepping away from active politics but would remain a member of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats. She has no plans for her next job and intends to focus on her health and her family’s needs in the near future.
Bilotaitė said she regretted leaving work unfinished and would hand her responsibilities to others. She said stepping back was necessary so she could take on new projects later.
Bilotaitė entered the Seimas, Lithuania’s parliament, on her party’s electoral list. Party colleague Kęstutis Masiulis is expected to take her seat.
