Former Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus is recovering well after surgery and feels better each day, a doctor told LRT. The Presidency said Tuesday that he had been admitted to Santaros Clinics hospital after a sudden health problem.
Adamkus was admitted on September 26. After examinations and an assessment of his condition, doctors performed surgery. The Presidency said the operation went smoothly and his condition was consistent with the early stages of postoperative recovery.
Professor Tomas Poškus, head of the Abdominal and Oncosurgery Centre at Santaros Clinics, told LRT television that Adamkus had received urgent surgical and medical care. He said the former president was active, feeling well and preparing to return home.
Earlier this year, Adamkus was admitted to Santaros Clinics for a procedure to restore blood flow in his legs, BNS reported.
