Estonian jazz duo Some Times say their debut album, Oddly Even, showcases what young jazz musicians can do, ERR reported. The jazz-fusion duo released the album on October 2.

The record contains 10 tracks with a total running time of 50 minutes. Its title track won recognition at the Uno Naissoo composition competition, which inspired the duo to continue making music together.

“Some Times is a band that plays energetic music across a wide range of styles,” said Kaasik. Männa described the album as including an R&B ballad, instrumental music and fast vocal funk.

Kaasik and Männa met at MUBA, a school where they played in different groups and at school concerts. They later wrote music for the competition and decided to form a band.

The album features 13 established Estonian musicians, including bassist Heikko Remmel and saxophonist Aleksander Paal. The duo said they welcomed the guests’ contributions, adding that they wanted the music to feel alive and different each time it was played.
