Trakai district mayor faces allegations over council expense claims

Trakai District Mayor Andrius Šatevičius has been named as a suspect in a case over council expense claims, the Special Investigation Service (STT) announced Monday, LRT reported.

He is suspected of abuse of office, misappropriation of property, and forging documents or possessing forged documents.

Investigators allege that from 2019 to 2023, while serving as a member of the Trakai District Municipal Council, Šatevičius abused his position by submitting expense advance reports that may have included false information about fuel and mobile phone costs. The alleged actions caused the municipal administration financial damage of 5,323 euros, the STT said.

Šatevičius has served as mayor of Trakai District since 2021.
