Eleven candidates have been registered for the November 8 by-election in Lithuania’s single-member Nalšia North constituency, LRT reported. The winner will take a seat in the Seimas, Lithuania’s parliament.

The candidates are Ignotas Adomavičius, nominated by Nemuno Aušra; Giedrius Dainys of the Centre-Right Union; Gintautas Kindurys of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union; Social Democrat Vladislavas Kondratovičius; Nikolajus Lebedevičius of the Lithuanian Regions Party; Freedom Party member Maksimas Paukštė; and Mėta Paulauskė, representing the Liberal Movement.

The remaining candidates are Antanas Šakalys, nominated by the Democrats’ Union “For Lithuania”; Andrejus Šildiajevas of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats; Viktoras Voroninas of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania-Christian Families Alliance; and Dalia Štraupaitė of the Nation and Justice Union.

The Central Electoral Commission has also made public the candidates’ questionnaires, asset, income and private-interest declarations, and other information normally published on its website.

The by-election was called after Jevgenijus Šuklinas, the Liberal Movement member elected in the constituency, died in late May. The commission revoked his parliamentary mandate in early June. Šuklinas, a canoeist, was elected to the Seimas in 2024 and belonged to the Liberal Movement’s parliamentary group.

Lithuania’s Election Code requires a by-election when a constituency-elected member’s mandate ends to be held within six months. No by-election is held if fewer than 12 months remain until the next regular parliamentary election.
