Latvian election turnout reaches 40.46% by 4pm
About 40.46% of eligible voters had cast ballots by 4pm in Latvia’s parliamentary election, LSM reported. Polling stations are open until 8pm on Saturday.
Fourteen candidate lists, comprising 1,428 candidates, are competing for seats in the 15th Saeima.
Voters in Latvia and abroad can vote from 8am to 8pm local time. Ballots could also be deposited for safekeeping at polling stations from September 28 until election day. Campaigning in public is prohibited on election day.
The newly elected parliament is due to hold its first sitting on November 3, when the current 14th Saeima’s mandate ends.
