Piret-Eve Kändler exhibition asks visitors to rethink ceramic perfection
Artist Piret-Eve Kändler’s exhibition “Perfectly Imperfect” presents porcelain works made in summer 2026 and challenges traditional ideas of beauty and perfection, ERR reports. The exhibition is on view at Hop Gallery in Tallinn until November 1.
The works feature experimental techniques and glaze drips that flowed unexpectedly, details often treated as flaws. Kändler instead sees each imperfection and distinctive feature as making a work unique and giving it emotional and visual value that machine-like flawlessness cannot achieve.
The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on their own ideas about perfection and beauty.
Kändler holds a master’s degree from the glass and ceramics department at the Estonian Academy of Arts and has also studied glass and ceramics at the University of Industrial Arts in Helsinki. Her work has appeared in numerous international exhibitions. At Hop Gallery, she has previously shown “Circus” in 2014 and “365” in 2019.
