Lithuanian rider Dovydas Karka finished 10th in the fourth stage of the Rallye OLA Energy du Maroc, completing the 321-kilometre route in 3 hours and 35 minutes, LRT reported.
Karka was 12 minutes behind Portugal’s Martim Ventura, who leads the Rally2 classification. The Lithuanian said he maintained a pace close to the leaders and made no serious mistakes on the route through dunes, rocky terrain and scrub-covered desert.
He also avoided technical problems: his navigation equipment, which had frozen during the previous day’s stage, worked without fault.
Although this is Karka’s second start in Morocco, he said the terrain was similar to last year’s and that he felt more comfortable. Competitors in the World Rally-Raid Championship’s fourth round face a 259-kilometre stage on Saturday, the event’s shortest.
