Former Estonian prime minister Siim Kallas presented his new book, “Money, Politics and Us,” at Rahva Raamat in Viru Keskus, Tallinn, on Friday, ERR reported.
Published in the “Estonian Thought” series, the book is its 191st volume. At the request of publisher Ilmamaa, Kallas selected writings that were arranged under three themes: money, politics and society.
The book opens with Kallas’s “Manifesto of the Citizens’ State,” which he revised in 2025. Its section on money and the economy covers Estonia’s monetary reform and the birth of the kroon, banking, tax policy, the market economy, private property and the state’s role in the economy.
The section on politics and Europe addresses liberalism, democracy, freedoms, Estonia’s foreign policy and the European Union’s development and future. The final section turns to education, healthcare and culture, and to people whom Kallas believes have shaped Estonia’s course or, more narrowly, his own.
