Lithuania’s Central Electoral Commission confirmed 11 candidates for the by-election in the Nalšia North constituency, scheduled for November 8, LRT reported Thursday.

The candidates are Ignotas Adomavičius of Dawn of Nemunas; Giedrius Dainys of the Centre-Right Union; Gintautas Kindurys of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union; Vladislavas Kondratovičius of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party; Nikolajus Lebedevičius of the Lithuanian Regions Party; Maksimas Paukštė of the Freedom Party; Mėta Paulauskė of the Liberal Movement; Antanas Šakalis of the Democrats’ Union “For Lithuania”; Andrejus Šildiajevas of the Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats; Dalia Štraupaitė of the Union of the People and Justice; and Viktoras Voroninas of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania–Christian Families Alliance.

Eduardas Vaitkus, who had nominated himself, withdrew his candidacy in mid-September after failing to collect the required 1,000 signatures.

The by-election is being held after Jevgenijus Šuklinas, who had been elected in the constituency, died in May. Under Lithuania’s Constitution, candidates must be citizens aged at least 21 on election day, permanently resident in the country and not bound by an oath or pledge to a foreign state. They must also meet other requirements set out in the Electoral Code.
