Paabel cultural forum draws more than 1,000 visitors to Tallinn

More than 1,000 people attended the Paabel cultural forum in Tallinn over two days, ERR reported. The free culture and music festival took place on September 26 and 27 at Paavli Kultuurivabrik, a cultural venue.

A central part of the programme was Minorities/Creativities, which brought together representatives of ethnic and minority communities, artists and organisers to develop ideas, make contacts and find support for their projects. Participants presented cultural and community initiatives, education projects and business ideas.

Projects represented LGBTQ+ and queer young people, Turkish, Vietnamese and broader Asian communities, the Indian community in Estonia, Mexican and Latin American communities, the Malaysia-Estonia community, and Chinese and East Asian creative communities. Initiatives supporting migrants, refugees and families granted subsidiary protection also took part.

Eight teams and ideas received recognition, with partners offering opportunities to develop their work further.

The music programme continued on Saturday evening at club MOD in collaboration with IDA Radio. The festival ended with a free concert on Sunday featuring Omar Souleyman, GOK2, Saudade and Tõnu Tubli Trio.
