Lithuanian army warns of fake student call-up notices

Lithuania’s army has warned about fake messages urging students to report to a military conscription and recruitment office in Kaunas, LRT reported Tuesday.

The army said its Military Conscription and Recruitment Service does not send notices or invitations to report to conscription centres.

An image of a fake notice shared by the army claimed that, under a university rector’s order, students had to visit the Kaunas Regional Military Conscription and Recruitment Office to update their information. It also claimed they would take part in shooting and other exercises and donate blood for Ukrainian armed forces personnel.

The message falsely warned students they would face penalties if they missed the events without a valid reason.
