Nausėda to address world leaders at UN General Assembly

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda will travel to New York on Monday to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, LRT reported.

Nausėda will visit the United States from September 21 to 25 and address world leaders at the General Assembly for the eighth time on Tuesday. His speech will focus mainly on global conflicts, the threats posed by artificial intelligence and historical memory.

During the visit, Nausėda will also speak at the sixth summit of the International Crimea Platform. He will attend a meeting of the presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, as well as a meeting of the Baltic states’ leaders with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The president will attend a reception for heads of state hosted by US President Donald Trump, and several bilateral meetings are also planned.

In New York, Nausėda will open a Lithuania-US business forum focused on resilience.

He will be accompanied by First Lady Diana Nausėdienė. In New York, she will attend a high-level event organised together with Ukraine’s first lady, as well as an event hosted by Turkey’s first lady on creating a safe digital environment for children.

At the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump, Nausėdienė will also attend an event organised by the global coalition Building the Future Together.
