Latvia presents top state awards to US representatives

Latvia’s highest state decorations have been presented to former US ambassador to Latvia Christopher Robinson and NATO official Warren Lowe, LSM reported. Robinson was appointed Commander of the Order of the Three Stars, while Lowe received the Order of Viesturs.

Robinson was recognised for his special заслуги to Latvia. He served as ambassador from 2023 to 2025, during Russia’s war in Ukraine and a period when security issues were particularly prominent in Latvian-US relations.

Lowe received Latvia’s military decoration for his significant contribution to testing NATO’s technological and digital military capabilities in Latvia to strengthen the country’s security. He heads command and control, communications policy, capabilities and industry at NATO’s Allied Command Transformation.

“Latvia has made a wise decision to invest in its military, economic and energy security to guarantee firm security for its people. Latvia can always rely on the United States as a strong partner,” Robinson said. “I know there are many concerns, but I am convinced that Latvia and NATO have made the right decisions, and this transatlantic partnership will grow stronger.”

Lowe said developments around the world must be monitored carefully without exaggerating the situation, while remaining prepared. That means being ready to adapt, staying flexible, and learning and training regularly, he said.

Weapons are constantly changing, with older systems being replaced by new ones, Lowe said, adding that both organisations and Latvia as a country must keep up with these developments so they can respond quickly to potential threats.

The awards were presented to the two US representatives at a ceremony at the Latvian Embassy in Washington during President Edgars Rinkēvičs’s visit to the United States.
