Haus Gallery opens group show on issues shaping Estonian art

Haus Gallery, an art gallery, has opened “From the Artist’s Position”, a group exhibition bringing together nearly 60 works by more than 40 professional Estonian artists, ERR reported.

The exhibition explores the themes the artists consider important at the present moment and creates a dialogue between art and the public. The organisers plan to make the group exhibition an annual tradition.

The show was assembled through an open competition. Artists were invited to submit one to three of their most recent works, each representing a personally or ideologically significant position they felt deserved attention. The works had not previously been displayed at exhibitions, and the artists were asked to explain their significance in a few sentences.

The exhibition is based on the gallery’s long-term experience and its conviction that art maps emotional history and reflects developments in society through each artist’s personal yet broadly applicable perspective.

Participating artists include Indrek Aava, Vano Allsalu, Jaan Elken, Mari Fröhling, Jenny Gröholm, Kristjan Juusu, Katrin Kelpman, Maarit Murka, Marko Mäetamm, Mall Nukke, Anne Parmasto, Tiit Pääsuke, Mari Roosvalt, Uno Roosvalt, Külli Suitso, Einar Vene and Valeri Vinogradov.
