Latvian Television has featured the National Alliance in its “Party in focus” election series, LSM reports. The series is intended to help voters make an informed choice in Latvia’s 15th Saeima elections by presenting the programmes and proposals of political parties.

The participating parties were selected based on SKDS public opinion research and had to have reached at least 2% support in early August.

Each programme invites the leaders of candidate lists from five electoral constituencies, including those ranked first, second or third on their lists. It also includes an analysis of the party’s actual record over the past four years, where applicable, and voter opinions on the party.

The programme examines whether campaign promises are merely intended to attract voters’ attention or can serve as a real basis for holding politicians accountable. More information about the National Alliance, its candidates, election programme and positions on issues important to society is available in LSM’s election section.

Election dates

The 15th Saeima elections will take place on Saturday, October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters will be able to cast their ballots at any polling station.

Fourteen candidate lists have been submitted for the election. Early voting will be available at all polling stations in Latvia from September 28 until election day, at the following times: September 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; September 29 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; September 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; October 1 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and October 2 from noon to 3 p.m.

The election campaign began on June 5. The newly elected 15th Saeima will hold its first session on November 3, when the mandate of the 14th Saeima will end.
