Eimantas Kirkutis takes over as Lithuanian ruling faction leader

Eimantas Kirkutis has become leader of the ruling Lithuanian Farmers, Greens and Christian Families Union faction in the Seimas, Lithuania’s parliament, LRT reported. He replaces Jaroslav Narkevičius.

The Farmers party said on Facebook that faction members had unanimously expressed confidence in Kirkutis.

“The fact that my colleagues unanimously expressed their confidence shows that they also positively assess my previous work. This trust also means great responsibility,” Kirkutis was quoted as saying.

He said the autumn session would include important ongoing work, including preparing the 2027 state budget. He also identified strengthening family policy, improving access to housing and addressing problems in the healthcare system as priorities for the faction.

“We must not only talk about problems, but also make concrete decisions. We cannot postpone them, because as elections approach, some difficult issues may become even harder to resolve,” he said.

Kirkutis added that his main goal was to ensure that the issues raised by the faction were not only heard but addressed, with promises turned into concrete decisions.

The joint faction consists of six representatives of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and three representatives of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania Christian Families Alliance. Kirkutis represents the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union.
