NATO jets intercepted Russian aircraft twice over the Baltic region

NATO air policing jets operating in the Baltic states flew one patrol near Poland’s border and twice took off to identify and escort aircraft that had breached flight rules last week, LRT reported.
On September 8, the jets conducted a patrol in Poland.
On September 11, they identified two Su-35S aircraft, two MiG-31 aircraft and a Tu-134 passenger aircraft flying through international airspace from mainland Russia to the Kaliningrad region.
The aircraft had no active radar transponders or flight plans. Only the Tu-134 maintained radio contact with the Regional Flight Control Centre.
On September 13, NATO air policing jets took off to identify and intercept an unknown object. It was identified as a flock of birds.
The NATO air policing mission in the Baltic states operates from Lithuania and Estonia.
