Soldier detained over alleged violence against girlfriend

Marijampolė police detained a Lithuanian soldier suspected of assaulting a woman and smashing a window, LRT reported, citing the Police Department.

The woman, born in 1994, contacted police on Sunday and said her boyfriend had threatened her and smashed a window at a house in Trakiškiai village, in Marijampolė Municipality, at about 10:50 a.m. the same day. She also said he had assaulted and threatened her at home on the night of September 11.

The woman did not seek medical attention for the physical pain caused by the alleged assault.

The suspect, born in 1992, was found to have a blood alcohol level of 2.85 per mille and was placed in a long-term detention facility. A pretrial investigation has been launched into causing physical pain and terrorising a person.
