Parliament committee resumes hearing on defence sector problems

Estonia’s Parliament Special Committee for State Budget Control will resume hearing defence sector representatives on Monday to discuss problems related to financial management and defence procurement, ERR reports.

The public hearing will begin at 1:15 p.m. and will be streamed live on ERR’s website. The committee is seeking answers to questions raised by a National Audit Office audit and by developments that have emerged publicly in recent weeks.

Those invited to the hearing include Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur, Defence Ministry Secretary General Kaimo Kuusk, and Deputy Secretary General of the Defence Forces Kadri Peeters.

Also invited are Magnus-Valdemar Saar, former director general of the State Defence Investment Centre, Erkki Tori, the state secretary’s security and national defence coordination director, State Secretary Keit Kasemets, and Ines Metsalu-Nurminen, chief auditor at the National Audit Office.
