Estonian parliament opens final autumn session

Estonia’s parliament will begin its autumn session on Monday, the final session of its current composition, ERR reported. The sitting starts at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the ERR portal.

Parliament Speaker Lauri Hussar and President Alar Karis will address the opening sitting.

After approving the agenda for the working week, Culture Minister Heidy Purga will answer questions from members of parliament about protecting young athletes and standards of conduct for coaches.

Education and Science Minister Kristina Kallas will respond to questions about vocational education on Hiiumaa and differences in teacher pay between state and local government schools.

Justice and Digital Affairs Minister Liisa Pakosta will answer questions about penalties for organised telephone scams and the damage they cause to the public sense of justice, discussions in the European Union about restricting young people’s use of social media and Estonia’s positions, and bringing Swedish and other foreign prisoners to Estonia.

A free microphone session will be held if members of parliament request to speak.
