Klaipėda to build pedestrian path near Central Beach

Klaipėda will begin landscaping work near Central Beach, including resurfacing, new parking spaces and a pedestrian path, LRT reported.

Parking spaces will be formed around existing greenery and covered with an eco-friendly surface. A pedestrian path will also be built for the first time at the location.

The municipality said pedestrians currently have to walk on the roadway, putting their safety at risk. It said the new path would make journeys to the sea safer for families with children and other pedestrians.

The project is being carried out by YIT. The contract is worth nearly 482,000 euros, and all work is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
