Tallinn Marathon to disrupt traffic and public transport

The Tallinn Marathon and Tallinn Autumn Run will cause temporary traffic restrictions and changes to public transport in Tallinn’s northern, central and Haabersti districts this weekend, ERR reported.

Thousands of recreational runners are expected to take to the city streets. People travelling near the race route should allow more time, follow temporary traffic arrangements and choose an alternative route where possible.

Traffic will be temporarily closed or disrupted on and around the route, including Paldiski Road, Ristiku Street, Kolde Boulevard, Kopli, Tööstuse and Kalaranna streets, Toompuiestee, and the Stroomi and Rocca al Mare areas.

Saturday, September 12

From the start of the day until 7 p.m., bus routes 2, 3, 8, 35, 40, 41, 59 and 66, as well as trolleybus routes 81, 84 and 85, will be diverted.

Tram routes T1 and T5 will be suspended from 9.15 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. During the same period, tram route T2 will operate on a shortened route to the Linnahall stop, while the route of tram T6 will be changed.

Bus route 73 will be suspended from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday, September 13

From the start of the day until 4.30 p.m., bus routes 2, 3, 4, 8, 22, 24A, 35, 40, 41, 42, 54, 59 and 66, along with trolleybus routes 81, 84 and 85, will be diverted.

Tram routes T1 and T5 will be suspended from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tram route T2 will operate on a shortened route to the Linnahall stop from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the route of tram T6 will be changed.

Bus route 73 will be suspended from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The routes of buses 36, 54 and 61 will also be changed from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Diverted public transport routes, as well as bus and trolleybus routes 26, 27, 33, 36, 54, 61, 62 and 72 crossing the race route, will operate on flexible schedules. Diversions may change the stops served on some routes and increase the walking distance to stops.

Licensed traffic controllers will manage traffic during the event. Traffic controllers, security staff and course judges will oversee the race. Residents, emergency vehicles and transport belonging to local institutions will be allowed through according to the situation assessed by the controllers and their decisions and signals.
