Station Narva sets attendance record at ninth festival

Station Narva attracted 5,766 visits during its ninth edition in Narva from September 3 to 6, ERR reported.
Festival founder and director Helen Sildna said the record attendance showed that Station Narva had found a place in the hearts of its audience.
“The city of Narva and the people of Ida-Viru have embraced us. Our team is truly happy that very different people, from young people to the elderly, spend time together at the festival from across Estonia and Europe,” Sildna said.
She said the festival aimed to create a cultural event that brought people together, motivated them and encouraged them. The team has already begun preparing for the tenth Station Narva.
Cultural Minister Heidy Purga, who opened the festival’s music programme, said Station Narva showed how music could bring people together and open the city to new audiences.
“You can leave here with a new favourite song, a new friendship or a reason to return to Narva,” Purga said. She highlighted the Skoone concert and meetings with local young people, whose energy and wish to connect their creativity with their home city and Station Narva showed that the festival had an important future in Narva.
The music programme took place on September 4 and 5 at the Narva Museum’s historic Hermanni Fortress and at the Ro-Ro club.
More than 20 performers took part, including British trip-hop pioneer Tricky, Icelandic electronic pop act GusGus and Estonian artists from several generations and scenes. They included Tõnu Naissoo, Sadu, Propeller, Skoone and Narva-born singer Alika, who celebrated her birthday with a special programme.
Free daytime concerts featured Mihkel Kuusk with the local Varjud dance studio, as well as EiK and Mattias Tirmaste. An installation titled “The Silver Voice” by Ida-Viru artists Eduard Zentsik and Vladimir Kopylov was also opened in the fortress’s western courtyard.
Station Narva will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year. The anniversary festival will take place from September 2 to 5, 2027.
