Lithuania turns back 11 migrants at Belarus border

Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service turned back 11 migrants at the country’s border with Belarus in the past 24 hours, LRT reported.

Latvian border guards, who are also dealing with an influx of irregular migrants, prevented 21 foreigners from entering the country on Monday. Polish officials reported that they had recorded no such cases on Sunday.

Last year, Lithuanian officials stopped more than 1,650 people from entering the country from Belarus at unauthorised locations. This year, the figure stands at 1,405.

Since the start of the migration crisis attributed to Belarus, Lithuania has refused entry to around 26,000 irregular migrants. Migrants began arriving in the eastern European Union countries in 2021, prompting Western countries to accuse the Minsk regime of being behind the influx.
