NATO fighter jets to conduct drills in northern Lithuania

NATO fighter jets will conduct pre-planned training exercises in northern Lithuania on Tuesday, with further drills scheduled for Thursday and Friday, LRT reported.
“We ask you to share this information with your relatives, remain calm and do not be alarmed. The pilots are training to ensure the security of our airspace,” the Lithuanian Air Force said.
The NATO air-policing mission in the Baltic states is being carried out from Lithuania and Estonia.
About 200 Italian air-defence troops are currently deployed in Šiauliai, a city in northern Lithuania, with four Eurofighter Typhoon jets.
Over the past several years, seven Ukrainian drones suspected of being affected by Russian equipment and carrying explosives have entered Lithuania.
