Exhibition explores queer people’s place in family

ERR reported that artists August Kilm and Ly-Ann Kõllo have opened the exhibition “Who Is the Table Set For” at the Krulli Saal exhibition venue in Tallinn. The exhibition examines the idealised dream of family, expectations formed in childhood and the disappointment of feeling there is no place for oneself in that dream.

The exhibition explores family and home, and how queer people fit into them. It features a four-channel video work and four installations.

“In the video work, we meet expected family members — a father, mother, son and daughter — and see a queer person’s attempt to adopt these roles,” the artists said. “The installations are based on standard pieces of furniture found in every household, attempting to imitate or dismantle them.”

The exhibition is open daily through September 20 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
